X2 on American Graffiti!!

We visited family in Toledo OH to be in the path.  As it turned out, we were part of the mass exodus out of Michigan to Ohio.  The north/south traffic was a near second to the total eclipse!

We didn't have a total here, but probably 80% or more. Really cool. Glad you got to watch it with your family. Copperas Cove?........new one on me, I'll have to google it..
On a different note, American Graffitti is on Netflix. Watched it last night. Had a smile on my face every minute. It had been at least 30 years since I'd seen it. If it wasn't the cars, the scenes bringing back memories, it was the music putting smiles on my face. Wolfman Jack...listened to him in the late 60's when I moved to Socal. That movie made so many stars, and even the director.....George Lucas!!

General Discussion / Carlisle PA swap meet.
Last post by 59meteor - 2024-04-12 07:33
Now that I live "only" about 1200 miles from Carlisle, I am heading down next week to attend the legendary automotive swap meet in Carlisle PA, just wondering if many of you guys go, or have gone before. Any tips? I understand that it is huge, the largest swap meets that I have been to before were in Portland Oregon. Is it mainly on grass, asphalt, concrete, etc, indoors, outdoors, typical mid April weather in the area, etc. Obviously, one should be prepared for chances in weather, and wear comfortable shoes, but if it rains, are rubber boots really needed, are insects a problem that time of year? We are planning to arrive Weds, and stay until Sat morning, and then head out to some drag races, and maybe car museums on the way back to Nova Scotia. What are the busiest days at the swap meet? Any other things to be aware of, or points of interest between Carlisle and , say, Bangor Maine? Thanks.

Just got home from Copperas Cove, TX where all my family (except daughter 1) watched the eclipse despite some cloud cover.  Turns out mother was nice to us as the clouds parted as the totality occurred and the sky remained clear for nearly the total 4 minutes plus of totality.  Life time experience, just a few things give me goose bumps and bring tears to my eyes, the eclipse is now on that list!

The pictures I took this morning are very bad.  I'll take some more on Friday and then send them to you Hugh.  Thanks.

I was able to install mechanical clutch linkage yesterday.  I don't know if it will work as I had to make a bracket to support the engine side of the bell crank. It works great...without the engine running.

Jeff, even with all the work I've done on this car, your 300 looks much better!

April 26-28 at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth is both the swap meet and Goodguys car show......how cool is that? That's a first this year, they're usually a week apart.

Yes G. it's sad.
Rich .... thank you..I have not been back to Texas since 13. I can't believe it..... but with the state of fuel prices and the immoral state of a Canadian buck compared to a US dollar(40 cents!)... travel to the US has been impossible.Distance wise)
I have heard folks from New Zealand have to pay 67 cents more for 1 US sawbuck.

Anyhow.... If I can't drive my car there..I simply aint going.

That's what I'm worried about. Also looks like pushrod guides may have not been hardened correctly. My buddy who built the motor is coming Sunday to assess. He may be trailering car to his shop depending on what all needs to be done.
