we talked about this before,   and the other day i talked to another car guy,  about the ground on the antenna,  he said to try a frame ground,  whats the diff from a frame and a body ground?,  i tried a direct battery ground,   would it make a diff? thanks    jerry

The difference can be where the negative wire coming off of the battery is connected. If the ground is connected to the engine block (where it should be) the rubber in the motor mounts prevents a good connection to the frame or body. All cars should have a bonding wire from the motor block to the firewall. Few cars have a wire to the frame. Ideally it's best to connect from the battery to the block, block to firewall, and body to frame. This method grounds everything and is not dependent upon on bolts, bushings or other metal to metal contact between the components.  Cars today have ground wires connected to the doors, trunk and every possible place to create a grounded system without depending on hinges. You can usually get away with the ground from battery the engine block and then at least a #10 gauge wire to the firewall on the older cars, that's usually what the factory did.
