Title: 429
Post by: sprink88 on 2020-02-02 09:18
Hey everyone.  Haven't been posting much here in a while.  But I just wanted to share that I stumbled upon a clean '69 429 PI. it was rebuilt 30 years ago and never broken in.  So I will be taking it completely apart and cleaning it up putting new assembly lube and gaskets.  I now need to acquire a C6 and the Crites kit.

My question is, what driveshaft do I need or get mine cut?

If you set the engine far back as possible you can use the stock driveshaft. I did have to cut off around 1/2" or so from the yoke or just get it shortened 1/2 to 3/4". My c6 came from a full size Ford, which has the more common tail shaft length. Or you can use an aluminum mid-2000's police driveshaft. I had to get that shortened 5/8" and re balanced. One benefit of the police driveshaft are the heavy duty 1350 u-joints although I never had a problem with original 1330 stockers.
