Title: 58 steering box
Post by: chero69gt on 2018-03-22 19:20
Just curious if all 58 Ford steering boxes are the same.
I have heard that there are two types, one being Saginaw.
Also, does anyone know how to identify the pitman arm
from a manual steering vs a power steering car?

        Thanks, Roger

power steering pitman arms have a hole...manual steering arms have a stud.  There is also a difference in the shape.  The '57 was a one year only.

Pretty sure the 58 steering box is identical to my 59s, which has "Ford" stamped right into the long steering shaft. Never heard of any other steering boxes used in 58/59s. My 58 and 59 shop manuals only show 1 model of steering box. Both of my 59 steering boxes are manual, and have pitman arms with a hole, the stud is mounted to the center link.
