Title: Custom vs Niagara
Post by: FiveSevenLiter on 2020-08-01 10:26
Met up with Rory last night and got these pictures on the way home.
Very cool car, as one guy said "less is better".  I am sure Les's mom agrees.

Great looking pics Terry! The sunset lighting sets them off nicely.  So who won? The heavier Cobra-Jet Meteor or the lighter 406 Custom.

Years ago at the Boothill cemetery we saw the grave marker of Lester More.  " Here lies Lester Moore 4 slugs from a .44 No Les No More".

It was nice to put some miles on my 59 Meteor , and meet up with Terry at a local impromtu parking lot car meet, and go to a nice spot in the country for a few photos. Since I first put the insurance on my 59 last week, I have put almost 300 "break in" miles on the odometer. Saturday night, on the way home from a cruise with my wife, as I accelerated to merge onto the freeway, it started running a bit rough, and made a ticking noise. Drove it home OK, since the oil pressure and temps were fine, once in the garage, a valvetrain noise was obvious, so I pulled the valve covers and checked the valve lash (solid flat tappet cam). #8 exhaust had .043" lash, and a bent pushrod.Everything else looked fine, so tomorrow I will put a new pushrod in, and if all seems fine, and weather permitting, I will run the 59 at the dragstrip on Saturday. I normally race my low 10 second Fairmont in our local "BC SuperShifter" stickshift series, but since the Covid deal has cancelled most of our 2020 race dates, as well as the Friday Night Street Legal Drags, our Super Shifter series is not having a year long points series this year, so since no points up for grabs, and no Friday night races, I figured if I want to make a few 1/4 mile passes this year, this may be my only chance to do so.

Rory, are you going to try and get a modified collector plate for it? As you know big difference in insurance costs.

Randy, I would like to go for the modified collector plates, but will need to get the interior done before it would be eligible. Also depends on if we are still in British Columbia much longer.
