Ford Blue blood

Took the Ranchero on it's first long run yesterday.  Little car show 60 miles away.  Very happy with the road manners, the AOD shifting and the very nice ride.  Running 65 on the back roads it turned right at 2800 RPM.  Getting out on the open road vs in town really shows the cars manners!  Looks like the gas mileage will be more than acceptable.  As usual of my old flip phone not taking pictures there is no video evidence that I actually left the house.  I do have a slight sun burn though......and I did win $20 from the money tree for the third year in a row!  The 36 sat home for the first time in many months and is very sad.....

Sounds like you had more fun than me. I did what will for sure be my last Goodguy's show. 355 miles each way. The '57 ran flawlessly so that part was great. I was going to do Friday and Saturday, but after paying 120. entry fees/membership renewal, I spent the day in 97* heat on asphalt with no shade except the nice folks next to me had an awning. Too hot to walk much, which I have a hard time doing any more. I did make it down to the inside vendor building where I paid 22.70 for a hotdog and lemonade! Very few people walking around, only had a half dozen stop and look at my car, and only 2 of them seriously. All in all not a good Friday, so when I was trying to figure out what to do to kill the night, I decided to do it driving home!! Couldn't see much sense in spending another whole day sweltering in heat. And Yes, I did know it was going to be that hot, I'm having a bit of a time convincing my brain this old body can't do it anymore. BTW, they wanted another $75 to park my car in the car coral dirt area, no thanks. As I said, kinda had it with Goodguys show, and this old body for that matter, lol.
I am looking forward to next weekend. Run to the Inn of the Mountain Gods in Ruidoso, NM. ....In the mountains,on a  lake, tall pines, grass, cool air, casino.

Rich was that the show at the Texas motor speedway? Wanted to go to that one, but have friends & family in from the east coast for my daughter's baby shower this weekend. Would've been good to meet you!
I went to that show last September, and the weather was the same. Pretty hot day to be walking around the asphalt.

Great news, Bill !

Any chance you can take just random pics of your 57 and post ?

We attended a classic car race at the Austrian GP circuit yesterday, a great day of fun and noise and exhaust fumes from various historic race cars ( several GT40 replicas, Cobras, a Kellison Astra, a Lola T70 v8, a 59 Galaxie Nascar racer, a Falcon , several Cudas and my friends 1964 Cheetah among many other 4 and 6 cyl cars).

small box of french fries $7.50... thankfully we brought our own soft drinks and sandwiches....

Haha, nope...same size as the hotdogs at most truck stops for 2.22, lol. I don't really blame the vendors too much, it's Goodguys that charges the outrageous fees for a weekend space. A few years ago, I heard indoor vendor spaces (non airconditioned) started at ten grand! for the weekend.
Yes, Texas Motor Speedway.

When we go to a "big" (Good Guys and NSRA) show the ol ice chest comes along.  Plenty of water and a big bag full of fibre bars and that type of snack.  It's bad enough that the cost getting in is outrageous never mind the food vendors cost.  The enjoyment of those shows has seriously waned over the years!  The NSRA 50th was my last big show!

I sometimes envy the cell phones that do everything this machine does.  But then watch folks that have them and their inability to stay off and enjoy the folks around them.  My little flipper serves it's purpose just fine.  Having said that, I do not have the ability to share pictures or take pictures.  Oh well.

Couple of shots of the Ranchero G, just taken at the house.

Car looks awesome Bill! Congrtas!
When I was fourteen years old, I was amazed at how unintelligent my father was. By the time I turned twenty-one, I was astounded at how much he had learned in the last seven years!

I like it, very impressive. And like you my flip phone is just right. All I need is to say, hello, talk a little and goodby. Back in the 80's my first phone was a bag phone, no way in hell you could  carry that around and talk. Again, very nice ride.

Wow, it's beautiful, Bill ! Very nice property as well.
Totally second your thoughts on mobile phones. mine is over 15 years old or so, still working.
I can see the many things you can use a modern phone for, but I just dislike everyone looking and wiping their Phones instead of having a good time out with friends.

Looks really nice and I'm liking the Thunderbird scoop theme I see on a few of these builds.
