This link from the Fordbarn website has information on 1958 engine colors.  There is conflicting information on the colors but the last thread indicates that the 352 engine block, pan, intake were light blue and the valve covers were gloss black.  Not at all sure how accurate this information is, but it was from a post back in 2013, so 10 years ago.

Good Luck,
Dave

I am pretty sure the 332's and the 352's in 1958 were different colors

The engine color depended on where the car was built, my father had a new 58 Ford with the 352, built at Marwar, NJ, the engine block was black the valve covers and the air cleaner were white.

This sales brochure from 1958 is listed on Ebay and shows the engines all the same color (light blue with black valve covers).  Just another little bit of information to further confuse the situation.

The trouble(s) with period SALES INFORMATION is that the ILL's are artist rendition, so you have to take it with a grain of salt.

1958 FE _2.jpg

Just to cause a little more confusion, there were three different stages of the 1958 FE,

Early 1958 production had solid lifters and black baldy rocker covers -

Later 1958 production went to an adjustable hydraulic valve-train -

Late 1958 production went to a non-adjustable hydraulic valve-train.

There also the 1958 EDSEL 361 E-400 (which was also a 58 FORD POLICE OPTION) and of course the 58/60 BIRD 352.

The 58/59 332 was turquoise while the 352 was black.

It's a fascinating subject and most information has been lost/forgotten.
