After my Ford was wrecked recently I was sweating the Insurance payout. Wee, they have
been great so far. The adjuster didn't know **** but it worked fine anyway. Soon as car went
to the shop they called the company for a supplement amount. Adjuster went there and listened
about the things that were overlooked and I received another check today. Right at 10,000 to fix
it right. I hope this all works out. :004:
I'm with American Collectors Insurance.
This is one of the few times my car has been touched by anyone else EVER.

Ron that is great news about your insurance company!  I am with Hagerty, only one claim since I have been with them and they performed well also.  Their adjuster did know old cars though......

Just glad to see it is back on the road to recovery!

Ron:

Great news, I'm with Grundy and if I ever have the need (hope not), I certainly hope to have similar service and results with them.

$10,000 sounds awfully cheap considering their replacing all that sheet metal, plus having to rework your supplied quarter, tailgate, etc. I would think at least double to replace the quarter and all, plus getting it as straight as it was before the accident. I hope it all turns out for you. Randy

I have Grundy on nine of my Fords right now.  My Parents and brothers use Grundy too.  My dads nice uunrestored '58 retract had a wheel fire and they sent an adjuster who did a very reasonable estimate and we were able to make it as good as new.

The gripe I have with Grundy is my rates have went up dramatically the last two years.  The '69 cj Mach1 premium doubled this last year!  Neither my wife nor I have any tickets accident or claims ever, but the rates are getting dramatically higher than 3 years ago.

I am going to have to start looking for another company with better rates, as with the number of cars I keep insured it is getting to be unaffordable.  I wonder if all the damage with the storm at the big auction house caused the muscle stuff to go way up.

I also noticed Grundy is owned by another company now.  Could that be why my rates doubled this year??

Companies like Grundy, Haggerty, American Collectors , etc are not insurance companies, they are agents that put your insurance with the insurance company that offers the best deal (for them). With big risks such as a museum collection there can be as many as 4 or 5 insurance companies sharing the risk. When I first got my appraisers licence the only company that would hire me without experience was a similar type company that did the field work for 30 insurance companies. Great training, when I went to Travelers and they told me I only was expected to write 5 wrecks a day (This was before computers) i thought i had was in appraisers heaven.
