New question about exhaust. Has anyone had recent exhaust information on headers?

Need more info. What engine? What mounts? That kind of stuff.

The car is a 57 wagon with a 390 automatic. Motor mounts are comming (1958 type).

57 Y block V8 mounts work, just turn them around backward from Y block orientation.  The 58 mounts only have one stud, may cause trouble trying to get them to line up with the two holes of the 57 frame mounts.  FPA makes the closest fitting headers, but they are expensive, about 700 pair.  Crites makes a set of headers but they hag down low, not really good for a low sitting car.

Recently I had 3" exhaust put on with flowmaster 40's  It sounds terrific

Thanks for the feedback, I would like to have headers but the cost is just too much at the time so I will be using the flat exhaust manifolds.

The Thunderbird Z motors made an honest 300 HP with the stock manifolds.  Headers are just eye candy unless you plan on living in the 3000 - 6500 RPM range.  IMHO they are way too much a PITA for a street engine.  Blast the stock manifolds, coat with Eastwood Stainless exhaust paint or coat with Columbia Coatings ceramic water based coating.

Did the 58 mounts come and how did they differ from the y block mounts?
