Okay! Since it is hot as hell and nobody is posting anything, I thought I would post some Of what I have been doing playing around with the Ford. For whatever reason I decided to regress the car to a little purer form of a sixties street sleeper. I pulled the "428" emblems of of the fenders and put '56 "T-Bird V8" emblems on the side. This is intended to be a little of a teaser because I have been making other cosmetic (mostly) changes some of what are in process.... stay tuned.
Forgot the pic....
Lynn, the Thunderbird emblem looks great on your 57 ! I have a set of valve covers prepared, for my 312, with the 'turned aluminium' style 1956 decals. 55 and 56 were also great years for pssgr, truck and T bird styling. I love them all !
recently I was watching a youtube video about the Californian 'Santa Maria' Cruising Nationals....and with all the 100s of custom and Hot rod cars... to me only one really stood out. It was an all stock, but lowered, red and white 1955 4dr ford station wagon...these model year Fords do have so much style, elegant, sporty and modern! Always wanted a 55, but somehow got hooked on 57s.

56s have always been a favorite of mine & are better than 55s. 12 volt system, great interment panel, better looking grille & trim & a 312 option. 56 Vicky 1 (2).JPG
Tom...sharp looker! And the red looks real good on it too! The oh so slight rake is perfect!

It's a pic I found on the net. By chance I have a model car that I built decades ago that looks exactly like it. Never could get my hands on a 56 Vicky & really regret selling my 56 Tudor Ranch Wagon that I found abandoned on the street. No wheels, lots of glass busted out. I had to save it & just drug it home. It had 292, a manual 3 speed trans with overdrive. Ran & drove very good.

Good looker!
Custom valve cover sticker proof....
I am putting these on stamped steel "THUNDERBIRD" valve covers. I had the valve covers gold powder coated. Early 60s covers on FE high performance engines had these decals in 352,390, or 406 designations....
Those are sweet! Where did You find them?
I had them custom made by a "Sticker Mule". They shipped today.
Lynn...I'm confused.....the pic you posted earlier is of a BLACK '57.....? Nice decal, or nice sticker?
It is a vinyl sticker, my car is black and white..... I am always confused!
Black and white?......I would have sworn it was 2 tone blue.
This is an older pic.... :002:
She is looking great, Lynn ! What a beauty ! imho the 56 bird emblem fits you car better than the 63-ish crossed flags.
For the next installment... I had a Spectre Performance Air Cleaner feeding cowl air to my carburetor at one time but I changed that arrangement when I went to EFI. I didn't like the filter element. I had been thinking about reviving the cold air idea so I built a new base that would accept a conventional element... Then I remembered something I wanted to do since I was a kid.... I will let the pics speak for themselves. The air cleaner has about 1/2" clearance to the hood and the wing nut hit the hood. I wound up using a barrel nut.

Could you please post a link or a clue to where you got that air cleaner? Got tired of searching for that one & not finding it in their dozens of products.
This as close as you can come to what I have... I bought the "fabricator series" a few years ago, and it had the second snorkel as an attachment, and it was in raw aluminum. It is not available any more. I called Spectre because I can't find the second snorkel (as of now), that is what they told me.

The air cleaner uses a Very thin element with some kind of "cotton" filter medium that is very thin and only lasted a few hundred miles.
PM me and I will be happy to help with pics or.....

Thanks! Don't think I want to spend that kind of money for an air cleaner. Yikes!

Yea...me either! WHEW! :glasses12:
The one I bought was less than half of that... before Covid.
Well I got the valve covers with the stickers on installed today. I am very pleased with how they turned out. Now the "Thunderbird V8" emblem matches what's under the hood.
Looks sharp! Nice work!
Absolutely Beautiful, Thank you for sharing, extremely clean ..
NICE ! really liking the finish on your intake manifold. Is that some kind of wrinkle paint or just the natural cast aluminium?
Nah, just plain old aluminum....
Looks great Lynn!
Well since things are slow I thought I post a couple more "improvements". I saw cos's post in "kinda slow" so .... Around these parts we don't have to prepare for winter and now I am not sure it will even get cold. We have experienced RECORD heat and an extreme drought for the past 100 days and outside activity has been non existent. "Fall" is a little more accommodating so car show activity picks up through December. Anyway I went to a show a couple of weeks ago and I noticed my tail light lenses were VERY faded. I bought them from Dennis Carpenter 12 years ago. I always wanted back up lights on my car so I decided to get new lenses while they were still available. I also decided the car was a little high in the back so I went back to the 2" lowering blocks instead of the 1" ones I have been running for a while. (Now the tires are almost rubbing on the traction bars, so I have some new issues to resolve. So Its "kinda slow"
