An excellent source of information from a professional old car restorer (he owns the business) & Y-Block owner, Dennis Vieira is his web site  http://www.newenglandclassics.org/   Go there, then click on "Articles." Then click on "The Evolution of Engine Oil."   In short, he recommends Rotella "T" 15-40 AND the additive (part #159 from Comp Cams - www.compcams.com) containing high concentrations of anti-scuff additives for the long life of y-block camshafts, rocker arms & lifters.

Long live the y-block!

I've had good luck with Lucas oil additive, my Y-block doesn't make a peep or smoke
when pushing it 75 MPH down the expressway.
