General Discussion / FE intake
Last post by Hoosier Hurricane - 2024-04-18 08:21
Hugh, I have a 2 barrel FE intake.  It has a casting number starting with C7TE, which means probably '67 truck.  Could be from a 360 or 390.  $35.00 plus shipping from east central Indiana.  Shipping cast iron is not cheap these days.    John

Thanks...I'll pass it on. Just figured if anyone had one sitting around here and wanted to part with it, I'd give them a chance. But I will look them up and then pass the info on to them.   :006:  :003:

Just for fun, we could really confuse things and add the Lincoln Y-Block used in Lincolns and big trucks, and the MEL engine family that came out about the same time as the FE.  :001:
I did a quick search on eBay motors and found several 2bbl intakes.  Search for Ford 352 Intake Manifold as those were the most common with 2bbl.

Are you going Rich?
I'm looking forward to it. Unfortunately the car won't be ready in time to make it but I'll be there checking out all the cars & parts.

Quote from: RICH MUISE on 2024-04-17 18:21No sir, your 312 is a "Y" block. The FE's started in '58 and include, among others, 332, 352,390, 460 (?) etc etc.

332, 352, 360, 361, 390, 391, 406, 410, 427, and 428 displacements are all FE engines.
The FE designate stands for Ford Edsel in honor of Edsel Ford, son of Henry.
The 385-429-460 were a different family of engines.

The heavier oil should give a higher pressure reading, though if it's been in there a while and is "well used", that could account for the difference.
If you're interested, here's a link to an article by Ted Eaton where he does some comparisons of heavy vs lighter oil and their effects on power:
