Title: 302 coyote engine
Post by: rlibew on 2012-04-29 22:08
has anyone investigated installing a 302 coyote engine or late model truck 302  in a 57. I'm getting some very high prices on a 351w engine rebuild (5k and up). So I'm looking into 4.6 four valve or 302 coyotes, can anyone offer help here. I'm all over the map here but, the high cost of a aluminum head 351 has me now looking for other options. I want to do this project right the first time and want an engine compartment that look as good as the rest of the car, with the horse power to move my 57 Fairlane 500 with respect. I live a chevy world with my fellow Cal Rod club members with many Chevy powered fords and I just do not want to go that route the great 57.

James and myself have been considering the 4.6 DOHC Lincoln mark viii's, and Canadian Ranchero was working on the actual install, but I think got sidetracked. If you look back a year or so for two threads with several thousand hits, you'll find tons of info. A guy from socal who's name I can't remember, actually did the install with some help from a local conversion specialists and had a lot of great pics and info as to what needs to be changed and altered, and also what years mark viii's are the best (93-96)to avoid more computer hassels than there already are. Ron Francis makes an engine management system specifically for the Mark viii 4.6's.
Found one of the threads..page 2 of this section...has over 7000 hits.
