Does anyone know how to loosen the nut to remove the trunk emblem and lock? I've tried quite a few tools to no avail.. thanks

I just did this last weekend...took me a while to figure out how to do it. I even went out looking for a 1" crowfoot but no one had one and I didn't think even a deep socket would fit over that shaft. The manual does not show a sheetmetal bracket spotwelded to the inner trunk lid support frame, but mine had one. It had a slot in it that fit down over the lock shaft and was in the way...I just bent it up out of the way. Anyway...the tool I used was a pair of 12" bent nose needle nose pliers (90 degree bend). The nut was not too tight so I had no problem loosening it. If you don't have a pair, and you're near a Harbor freight...they're about 10. for a pair of pliers...one straight nose and one bent nose...they've come in real handy reaching things on a number of ocasions.   Rich

I took a cheap 1" wrench cut it down really short , and cut a slot in the open end.   It works great.   I keep it in my special draw in my tool box, just for that.

wished I had thought of this when I was trying to figure out how to do it...found the perfect tool in one of my plumbing tool boxeswhen I was looking for something else As soon as I saw it the light bulb went off...a basin wrench !!!
For you non-plumbing repair guys a basin wrench is what you reach up under and behind a sink bowl to get to faucet nuts. It's basically a length of pipe with a swivel hook type claw. As I said it would have been perfect.
