I agree with Jay, that is a car that should remain unmolested..

If I had it, low mileage or not, I would put my F code 312 in it..

I totally agree with James. Aside from the fact it's your car..do what makes you happy with it.. It's not a particularly rare car (buisness coupe, d code, f code) although any 2 dr Custom is getting real hard to find. IMHO, putting a drivetrain in it more to your liking sure isn't gonna destroy any value.
With that said..I hope my next one is a 6 with a 3 on the tree..lot's of fun, easy to fix. I'm starting to think the old 6's are gonna be real hard to find before too long, if they're not already....and they seem to be gaining in popularity.
I can do this, I can do this, I, well, maybe

I agree Rich, I'd love to have a 223 and a three on the tree model just like my first 57, it was a fun car.. I build my panel truck with a 390 originally and then went back to the six. We do all our long distance trips in it and it cranks out 20 mpg until the unleaded/ethanol crap came along and now it only gets 18..

Wow...what a find!

The deal I made with myself is I wouldn't do anything to the car I couldn't undo. No cut crossmembers, no narrowed rear axles, nothing I can't unbolt and put the original stuff back on, which I kept.
you never know somebody may want an original 272,Fordomatic custom one day.
