--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm installing a C4 behind a 351W with an IDIDIT steering column in a '57 Ranchero. I'm currently addressing the neutral safety switch issue. I was hoping a simple trip to NAPA was in the cards, but noop.

The steering column does not have a provision for a safety switch. Then I was hoping the transmission would have a switch that maybe used a detent of sorts and worked internally. That does not look like the case.

What I have found so far is a switch from Ron Francis that mounts on the C4 linkage at the transmission for about $69.

How have others answered this issue is my question of the day.

Thx in advance and for all the past responses/answers, r

I used that Ron Francis switch on a C4 behind a 351W in a street rod I built . Worked great and it was easy enough.

r, I hope the ididit works better for you, the one we got was a GM basicl
column, the detents weren't even close for the c6. Wound up going to
the junk yard and getting a bell crank to reverse the direction and still
drilling the shift arm on the trans for the ratio. Maybe they have more
options now. It seems everything my friend bought to his f100 was
wrong. Everything is designed for small blocks these days. The fatman
crossmember for the MII front end even had to be trimmed for a fe mtr.
We chose to use rear sump and recess the firewall to get the weight off
the front end. The people selling this stuff don't even know what a fe is.
It just goes back to building your own stuff

One thing many street rodders use is a brake light switch. Have to have your foot on the brake to crank it.
