Title: Fuel line
Post by: 1940fords on 2010-04-12 15:03
When swapping out the 292 engine for a 429, will the 5/16 in. line be sufficient or do I need to go to a 3/8 inch line?

I'd go to the 3/8 line, 429 is a thirsty devil...

Be sure to change the pick in the tank also. No sense having a big line restricted at the tank.
Back before we knew any better my car was running 12:70's with the 5/16 line with a 390.
I agree changing it to 3/8 for sure. Hell I had 1/2 on mine in its racing days. Just funny some of the
things we do sometimes.

I don't think you need 3/8' line unless you decide to race it. If your fuel line is to small you would find out by going down the highway at a high speed. Once the power starts falling off is when you are starving for fuel. I run a 427 with 3x2's at 85 mph and it still wants to pull.
