Kinda feel like a dipstick askin this. Anyway, I'm in the middle of putting my 312 back togeather after being apart for a few months. As forgetfull as I am anymore I thought I was pretty smart baggin and labeling the bolts but now that it's going togeather I realize there is two holes in the block to press the dipstick in, one in the back middle and one in the front. I know that the dipstick goes in the back one in my application but for the life of me I can't remember what was taken out of the front one. Any help out.

I'm surprized you have'nt got an answer yet. I have'nt had a Y Block in 40 yrs.
Would a freeze plug work? Or does something belong there.
Good Luck, Ron

What about a Motor Manuel?
I hate blocksanding!

yep...got my answer on another Y-block forum. It was a small freeze plug and the reason I didn't remember taking it out was cause the machine shop popped it out when they did the block. So it really wasn't just a senior moment on my part. Thanks for the reply
