Title: 15x7 steel wheels
Post by: mike b on 2012-05-09 10:33
I have been searching for 15x7 ford steel wheels to use dog dish caps and I have had no luck finding a good useable set. A swap meet friend of mine clued me into summit racing who has new oem style bare rims from wheel vintiques for $ 78.00 ea. I ordered a set,got them the next day. I think for a new set,not 40 year old rusty or dinged up rims,it's not a bad deal....I plan to get cragars next year to change the look from time to time . :004:

The only Ford car I can think of that came with 15x7 steel wheels was the Boss 302. They needed the extra rim width for wider trim ring to seat properly. Mid-70's to early 80's Ford police cars and maybe station wagons used a 6 1/2 inch steel wheel and there getting harder to come buy as well. I'm looking for two rims for the rear and I may go the same route as you. what size rear tires are you going to use?

A friend of mine has a 57 biz coupe and is running 245/60/ on the 15x7 rims I got from summit. He says they fit ok and look good but if he were to do it over he would get 235/70 as the taller tire and a bit narrower tire would look better in his opinion. I think I will start with the 235/70 and see what the clearance and look is and decide from there .

235-70 or 225-70 are the sizes I'm looking at with maybe a 215-75, 225-75 up front for header clearance. Right now I'm running G-78 15's bias-ply's, which look really cool but are treacherous to drive on. Randy
