Title: What engine came in my ranchero?
Post by: Jimburnaugh on 2015-10-11 10:33
I want to order Butchs cool stuff engine mount kit, but there are two different kits, one for car that came with 6 cylinder and one for original v8.  Anyone know how to tell what came stock in car?  It's a 57 ranchero, doesn't have the 9inch rear end.  Thanks

If your serial number starts with an "A" your car came with a 6, any other letter it would have had a V8.

I'm going to insert a question here for the guys...why would Butch's have different motor mounts depending on what the car came with oem??? Other than motor mounts and radiator position, which are obviously both bolt-ons, what if anything varies, 6 cyl to 8, that would change aftermarket motor mounts? Could they be positioning the engine further back if the car had an oem 8cyl radiator position?

I was thinking the same thing, the cross member and mounting pads are all the same..
