What transmission fluid is the Ford o matic supposed to take. Can't find type a anymore, so what have you guys been running?

NAPA has type A here in B-Ham, not sure why it is that hard to find?

I'll stick my neck out on this one but I seem to remember running Type F in the few Fordomatics I had years ago,

I stand corrected, the Ford manual does call for Type A..
Type F replaced Type A in 1961
Dexron replaced Type F

There was also a Type FA at one time.

Note: original Type A used whale oil  :003:

Opps, went and looked at my supply, it is type "F".  Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks for the correction. I've done a little research today, and half seem to say type f, others say dexron type 3. Anyone else run either it these?

I always used F. From what I understand Dexron 3 is the universal replacement for everything but I've never used it as I don't have any autotrans anymore.
