I was wondering if anyone had put a 4V manifold and carb on their 292.  I know that none came from the factory that way in 1957 but they did in other years.  Cars in 55 & 56, trucks in 57 & 60 - 63.

Maybe it's not all that much of a boost in HP.  Just curious.

Thanks,

Rich

I did... in 1966, a Holley on a 312 manifold. It made a very modest difference.

Lynn,

Thanks for the response.  I was guessing about a 10% increase based on the HP that they were listing for other variants using the 4V option.  I doubt that it is worth the cost and effort.

Thanks,

Rich

I did that in the late 50's to early60's in my 56 Ford and thought that it was fast until I got beat by a 50 Merc. with a flathead.    I suppose that enough tie has gone by now that I can admit it.

That is a great confession... LOL! :003:

If you used the '56 distributor with the later carb, you probably weren't getting all you could from the 4 barrel.
