Looks like the wadded up remains of a Caddy to me.

I agree , I believe it to be a Cadillac. If you look closely ( I used a magnifying glass ) at the dash area, you can see the "Electric Eye" mounted on the dash at the dogleg.

Thanks guys, wasn't sure; the square vent window and the C script on the fender thought it maybe a Customline, but the low door molding made me wonder

The good old days

I see a 7.10/7.50 x 15 tire size, and it looks like a 5 1/2" bolt circle (F100) wheel.  No 14" wheels for him.

Smokey Yunick was "the guy".  They say if they let him run NASA, we would have walked on the moon much earlier.

... in 1950 Red Foley was either referring to the new 337 Lincoln (big Flathead/Ford truck) V8 or the older 306/292 V12. ...
Hang on there! You're confusing the 'Hot Rod Race' tune with the 1955 tune 'Hotrod Lincoln'.
Foley's cover, nor any version of Arkie Shibley's tune never mentioned the word Lincoln. It was just a "hot rod model A".
I always imagined the original hot rod A-Bone as having a hot Flathead V8  :001:
When I stared buying Hot Rod magazine around 1958-'59 nearly every Model T, Model A, '32 Ford or any other newer Ford rods had Flathead V8s.
So I wanted, and got, a Flattey V8 in my first car in 1962.
I still have a bunch of those old car mags. Unfortunately back then I had cut out most of the best car pix & had 'em taped on my bedroom wall.

Whoa! Thanks for that!
Being a motorcycle guy back then, (still am), that brings it all back. I'd forgotten all that bit. Back in those days I know that I sometimes used some of those phrases he used when talking & joking with friends.

Yup, it's a 'Cataract'. You can also just barely make out some of the mangled 'Mae West' bumper.

At one time in the earlier years I think they actually ran truck tires :003:
