Yep...quite familiar with it. Between Catholic schools and living there for almost 4 years...well aware. Buddy of mine took the family and went to every one of Fr Junipero Serra's Missions or to their memorial markers one summer. Took them 3 weeks. (One dad/husband...3 daughters and a friend of one plus wife) LOL!!! Probably could have done it in 3 days by himself!

The El Camino Trail passes through Louisiana. I was surprised to find that out a couple of years ago.

I think that is a different one. Father Serra's Mission El Camino was strictly California as far as I know. I might be wrong...but that was always my understanding.

Anyone know for sure? I have outlived all the nuns and priests I had in school.

RICH MUISE

There are more than one El Camino Trails (El Camino Real) the one Lynn is talking about starts in Louisiana and goes thru Texas to the Mexican border. The One I'm familiar with is the one Hugh talks about in California and is more commonly known as El Camino Real. I think there are others.....search wiki.
At one time I had a little souviener miniature lampost of those that lined the California route. I found it in an antique shop in New Hampshire! I think my ex has it now.
I can do this, I can do this, I, well, maybe

That is what I was thinking too Rich. If I ever see one of those trinkets I'll grab one for you. I still go down that way from time to time, have a buddy in San Diego who, like me has an addiction...to fine steaks and wine! So we go out and indulge now and then!  :003:

Also the daughter lives in Sacramento so I usually start at her place then go to Tom's in San Diego. YUM!

When I was fourteen years old, I was amazed at how unintelligent my father was. By the time I turned twenty-one, I was astounded at how much he had learned in the last seven years!

I saw that too. I wondered if they were the forerunner to Bob's? I worked at one in San Diego when I was 19...down the road from the Sports Arena.

I was there last spring...still is pretty much middle of nowhere. Take the marine base away...and it WOULD be nowhere!
(You have no control over where you are born...and I sure didn't. But...that is where I was born...and last spring...was the first time I had been back since I was 2 years old. Turn 67 in 9 days.)
