Title: Bck-Up Lights Wiring & Neutral Safty Swith
Post by: BWhitmore on 2012-08-03 23:10
In re-wiring my Ranchero (no wiring in the car), is it correct that one side of the back-up lights switch gets a 12v hot from the ignition switch (hot only when the switch is in the run position) and the other side of the switch is the lead that goes to the back of the car for the two back-up lights?

Also, the underdash wiring harness that I purchased for the car has two terminals for the auto transmission neutral safety switch.  Given that my car is a 3 speed stick do I just connect these two netural safety wires together or eliminate them?

Thanks for any help.

Yes to the backup light question.  The two wires for the neutral safety switch get plugged together.  In an automatic car there is a short harness (two wires) that run from those wires to the safety switch.
