Title: CJ Exhaust Manifolds in a 57 Custom?
Post by: Ford_Crazy on 2008-09-03 05:32
Anyone know if 428 CJ iron exhaust manifolds will fit in my 1957 Custom without clearance issues?

When I ran a FE, until I got custom headers made all that seemed to fit
was the flat manifolds. Not very good IMO

How to lose 50 hp on a slightly modified FE and make it slower than almost anything in one easy lesson. USE FLAT MANIFOLDS do you guys detect that I hate those things. :deadhorse:

Tom, I have a Mustang & Fords magazine from a couple years ago, it has a nice black Custom 300 in it.  It has a 428 CJ in it, has stock 428 CJ manifolds on it.  I think he used a Galaxie or Fairlane steering box though.  I have a Gal box on mine and there is a lot more room than either a `57 or `58 box on it.  More of the box is above the frame rail instead of positioned to the inside of the frame.  I'll dig the magazine out and scan some pics later this weekend..
