damper installation advice, please

just got back from Mr Mummert my rebuild crank damper and ready to spend the day reinstalling and hopefully first-fire up of my close to 20 year restoration project!  any advice on reinstalling the damper?? My service manual shows a Ford installation tool but I doubt if I could even get one any more and surely there is something else out there to use...

heck, I don't even know if the thing will just slip right on... but I doubt it, cause everything I've done on this baby has inflicted skinned knuckles!

so, suggestions are sought!  after all, I have to keep my helpful brother-in-law from getting too banged up, or he may decide that helping me is just not worth it.
