Title: Neutral Safety Switch for 4 speed manual
Post by: 65kcode on 2014-06-29 15:49
I am installing a Ron Francis Wiring kit into our 57.  It is requiring me to put in a 2 wire Neutral Safety Switch. 428/4 speed, stock clutch pedal.

What have you guys put in while doing this swap. Parts houses are useless if you don't have the year, make and model.

Thanks,
Kevin

The safety switch for manuals is on the clutch pedal in later model cars.  Have to press it too the floor for the circuit to be closed and the starter to engage.  I believe they started going into cars in the mid to late 70s.

You can just short those two wires together and go without or get a brake switch from a late 40s early50s GM product.  It has a long arm and a mounting tab plus a two terminal switch.

Wire in a hidden on/off switch for an anti-theft device.
