Quite a bit rarer than a Galaxie with this engine combo. I wouldn't mind having it.

I love that car, talk about a rare combo! The first FE I bought came out of a '62 Merc just like that one. Thanks for that post.

Seeing the trailer brake controller I wonder if they advertised it as a towing package with plenty of horses  :003:

1962 wasn't exactly a banner year for  Ford in nhra stock racing but they did hold their own against the 300 pound lighter 413 Mopars.

I would imagine that Merc weighed a couple hundred more than the Ford.

One more year and they really turned things around with the introduction of the 427.

Cool car. I'd still like to have it though.

I have seen 62 Mercs around and even saw one that was factory standard shift with a BW T85 and thought that was cool.  I never even imagined that they put  a 406 engine and a 4 speed in some of them.  Thanks for sharing that with us.

I wouldn't mind that one either. Wouldn't take that much to make it a really clean daily driver.
Spreaking of rare(??) mercs...I saw this one in Ok City yesterday. I thought the roof was really strange on it, but I went over and talked to the owner and he said it was totally oem. It's a '39. Is it just me...I don't think I've ever seen one like this. I'm not 100% sure he wasn't yanking my chain, but I would have guessed someone did an awesome job grafting a Mercedes roof and windows on it.
I can do this, I can do this, I, well, maybe

I love the old Mercs. Merc bodies where completely different from the Fords, the only thing that interchanged was the headlights. I forget if it was 41 or 47 before Mercs shared the same body as a Ford.

I have a '41 Ford Coupe and two '47 Mercury Coupes.  Other than the shiny stuff, the parts go in the same pile.

As long as we're talking mercs has anyone ever installed a 57 mercury dash in  57 ford? Personally have lusted after the 57 mercury  steering wheel and am tempted to use a 58
Edsel dashboard ,which I have, just curious about the dashboard at this time. Also in the Edsel world there are 2 different width cars is that also true in mercs ?
