Title: More FE Swap Questions?
Post by: Ford_Crazy on 2008-11-22 13:13
I did a trial fit of a 390 block into my 57 Custom.   I used the 272 Y-Block motor mounts and the motor sits in the car fine. I also used the 57 272 Z-Bar and mounting brackets that were in my car.  The Z-bar mounting bracket stud on the motor side seems to be about an inch too far forward making the Z-Bar lilt toward the front on the motor side.  Also the Y-Block Z-Bar lower arm seems a little too close to the block, but it may be because of the missalignment.  Should the Y-block parts work with the FE (60s 390) or do I need 58 clutch linkage parts?  Thanks!

You have to turn the Y block mounts backwards when installed on an FE to get it in the right position.

Motor mount opening faces the rear.
