Title: 289 & AOD
Post by: Marc on 2008-08-16 04:06
well, this question doesn't concern a '57, but you guys have enough experience with different engine/tranny combos I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask: A friend of mine has a '63 fairlane wagon currently running a 260 & 3-speed. He's got a '68 289 to put in there that will stay pretty much stock, and has been thinking about using an AOD. I know he'll probably have to change the crossmember and driveshaft, but aside from that, will an AOD bolt up to a 68 289?

If you can find 91up pickup Aod--grab it. How much HP? Dragin with it?

Thanks for the tip. The engine's going to remain stock, nothing wild. I've been telling my buddy to go with a big block & straight axle, but he's not going for it.  :003:

He will need to change the bell housing as the 63 has five bolts and mid 65 up are six bolts.
