What is it?

I found two of these in a box of random parts in my 57 and I cannot figure out what they would be for. Any help is appreciated as always.

they go to the lock mechanism on the door latch. or at least at that angle it looks a lot like it.

Yep, they go into the end of the door lock  key cylinder and then to the corresponding holes in the latch.
JFYI......Model to model, they are not all the same. I believe the wagons are different..... definitely the country squires, but we've encountered some differences in the lengths even where wagons were not involved.

Be aware that those are different from left to right & left & will not interchange. I was missing one & the one I had was in the wrong side & not even correctly installed. I ended up making my own.
