Title: headers
Post by: 1958ford on 2018-02-18 14:58
Have been told hooker headers #HOK6113HKR from summit will work on 57/58/59 Fords with FE engines???  Anyone have experience with these, or what headers will work.  John

Those headers are designed for 66-69 Fairlanes. I understand they will fit a 57-59 with reworking a tube or 2. Unfortunately, they exit right into the stock transmission crossmember, and also 2 tubes on the passenger side are routed underneath the lower control arm, so they hang down quite low, and are easily damaged by speed bumps.
On my 59 2 door sedan, with a 428 CJ and 4 speed Toploader, I have the FPA headers that are specifically made for this application. They have thick flanges, fit nicely, do not hang down low at all, and also are meant to route the exhaust pipes above the stock trans crossmember, like stock. FPA offers these headers with all 3 different exh. bolt patterns, and both exh. port locations. Not cheap, but well worth it in my opinion.

Thanks for the info.  Better to know before buying than after!  John
