Post by: rovohn on 2017-11-23 21:48
Is anyone aware of a replacement headlight bucket for the 57?
I mean the assembly that the headlight itself is attached to,I cant seem to find any anywhere
Cheers,John

Funny thing I've never seen a NOS one for sale in my 40 years of collecting 57 parts.

There should be some good used ones as they don't seem to rust much.

I would think earlier (49-56) parts could be adapted as the main difference is the way the headlight doors are attached.

Goodluck,

Ron.

Do you mean the fender extension or the actual headlamp bucket?

He did say the part the actual headlight is attached to, so that to me confirms the bucket. All the ones I've seen have been thoroughly rusted out, including mine. Mine had about 1/3 of the bucket totally gone, but I came up with a way to restore. If anybody needs some info on rebuilding that does not require welding or exotic metal forming, let me know here and I'll post the process or find the old posts I did on it.

I managed to score a pair of decent used ones but I would still like to see what your solution is
Cheers and Merry Christmas
