Title: Anyone keeping count
Post by: Ranch on 2026-02-13 07:15
Is there anyone who keeps track of of the earlier Ford Model Years, similar to Marti Reports for the later era Fords?  I'm Kinda interested just how many 58 Rancheros are registered and still on the road.  Of course I've seen pictures of them and some very nice ones here, but in the 56 yrs of owning mine I've only seen one in person.  I've seen a few 57s but 58 one and that was a survivor at a PA AACA car show (near Philly) a few yrs back.  So my official count is 2  :002:. When people ask me how rare is my car I tell them "Well it's the only one I have".

This is all I could find when I asked how many were still around today:

There is no exact, official count of how many 1958 Ford Rancheros exist today. However, only 9,950 units were originally produced in 1958. Due to age, rust, and low survival rates for working vehicles, the number in roadworthy condition is likely a small fraction of the original production number.

Production Numbers: 9,950 units were built in 1958.
Significance: 1958 was a low-production year compared to 1957 (21,695 units), making them quite rare.
Survival Rate: While many have been restored, a significant number of 1958 models have been lost to time, rust, or used for parts, making the remaining number of functional, on-the-road examples quite limited.

The 1958 model is notable for its unique quad headlamps and grille, often sought after by collectors.

Not much help. But thinking about it...I can't remember seeing more than a couple myself...and that is in multiple states.

I actually prefer a 58 Ranchero over the 57.. I love the combo styling.
Beautiful ride.
