Title: 1957 Country Sedan Windshield Wiper Assembly
Post by: Paul Tachis on 2026-02-16 10:15
Good Morning
Has anyone found an alternative for the cable driven wiper assembly? Mine is in very rough shape.
Thanks
Paul

The cable system is one year only (IIRC). If you can find a '58 (or '59) you can use that set up BUT the wiper motor mounts inside the car under the dash so you'll need part of the cowl to weld in. There are other designs that can be adapted and I think others on the forum have used and I am sure some one will chime in. It is probably easier to fix the original set up though, good luck! Welcome to the forum!

By far the easiest way to go is to keep stock, as Lynn suggested. If you are in a construction mode with the car disassembled, it would be easier to make the cowl mods mentioned. If you do go back stock, make sure you find the thread on the pulley and cable system in our tech section, as the Ford factory manual shows the cable routing wrong.
I may be one of the ones Lynn was referring to about going in another direction. I built a complete hard arm system to replace the cable and pulleys, took a few months of part time craziness.
