Title: Where did the parts go?
Post by: 1930artdeco on 2026-02-18 11:23
When did bell cranks for autos get so expensive? Where did they go to make them so pricey?

Floor shifters and shift-by-wire have eliminated a bunch.  Make one.

I despise any "by wire" system. My F-350 has that for the throttle. UGH!

That's the exact reason I have extended warranties on my late model stuff!  Even though I'm an electronic tech by trade the new vehicles are well beyond basics!

I got one as a replacement until I can rebuild mine. But, to me that is a part that doesn't get mashed like fenders, trim, bumpers etc. Just seems odd that they would disappear and now are suddenly very expensive. Or, I have been out of the parts buying business for a long time.

'57s don't use one.  What are you working on?

Gasman I am referring to the bell crank for the throttle/kick down on my 57 wagon. It just seems like this part should not be disappearing and the remainders going for prices next to gold.

I have an extra also.  It seems parts old prices are climbing.  I just for an NOS clutch zbar for the f100. It was about 200.00 :deadhorse:   bit a real seller on ebay as oppose to a scammer on  FB.  I think eBay fees just went up also. Btw always use pirate ship.  It's the cheapest.

Pirate ship is for cheap shipping.  You pay for you ups or usps slip.  Print it and drop off. Cheaper that the actual place.

Great rates.  I shipped two vintage bicycles on my last trip from MN to CA.  Two boxes one was a bike box another med box with all the hardware.  It was 125.00.
Small packages are about 8-12 bucks.

Mike did you find the bell cranks for the  accelerator?

Holy smokes, nice work!   What transmission / engine combination is that?

In my hurry to answer the OG question, I posted PIC of automatic shift linkage rather than automatic bell crank.  DA!

The PIC was 351/408 Windsor with AOD.  Most of the linkage is Lokar.  The Ford Red parts are custom.

Hi Abe, yes I did get a NOS one or a really, really hardly ever used one. Along with the 58 AC compressor bracket that I needed. The following weekend I grabbed some really nice ribbed aluminum Thunderbird valve covers and a set of 14" steelies. This weekend I am going to pick up all of the trim for a 500, I will keep the front fender stuff and sell the rest for what I paid.
