My Ranchero is back from paint jail, and now I need the clips and/or fasteners for the SS Quarter Panel Trim.
I want to install these pieces now, while there is some access to the backside of the quarter panel, through the cab, the tail lights and the tail light access panel.
A list of the parts numbers and the quantity would be great, if such a list exists.
Vendors that stock these pieces?
Have you used clips/fasteners other than the original parts numbers?
I've seen some plastic clips on E-bay, that look like they would work.
Any tips on the actual installation of this trim, so I don't scratch the new paint?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
John
CUSTOM OR CUSTOM 300 TRIM-OUT?
I used the bump in clips and the bolt in on the ends.
Mr G's fasteners in Texas used to have the bump in clips.
I just used the generic clips. My cars are not restorations so OE hardware wasn't real important and the OE clips are a little expensive. I bought two boxes from AUVECO Supply. I also bought nylon lock nuts...do not over torque so not to crack the paint and keep the molding proud and off the paint! On the inside, I used a little butyl sealer on each hole. My TIP: protect the paint with lots of masking tape.

My trim is a single piece of stainless on the front fender, door and quarter panel. The"Serial Number Tag" on the A pillar says the trim is AU
Hope that answers your question.
Thanks

Your local paint supply shop may have a selection of aftermarket fasteners to chose from. As Abe said, use the push-in type when you can't reach the backside to add a nut.
John, I used the stock clips front to back. Got them from the Retractable/Sunliner guy in MO. In WI right now for a funeral, I'll dig out the paperwork when I get back.
I used clips from Restoration Specialties they have a gazillion of types including the ones like Gary used (that's what I used. I pulled the molding in too tight though and drainage was slow...took days. So I had to redo that. I also used sheet metal nuts with sealant in them.

Here is the link and one of the pdf. It's set up so you print on a 8.5x11 it prints at 1:1.
I wonder if the printed prices are still holding true.

John, contacted my buddy who now owns the Ranchero for the parts numbers etc. All the paperwork I gave him when he took the car has been lost when his house burned down. Sorry, no help from the papers.
Will the actual part numbers and quantity help?
Some may be found NOS and some fastener companies have changeover listings.
I believe Bill Coslin, Cos, is currently installing the stainless on his Ranchero. Perhaps he could tell you exactly what he used.

I would have to check but main used the wire clips on page 1 of the pdf. I would print the page and lay your trim over and see which clip would fit within the trim.
