Does anyone have any suggestions on replacing a steering column in a Custom with a tilt steering wheel?

You will not find anything that will fit with your present set up  the steering shaft is part of the box . You need to have the shaft shortened [ by a certified person] and a rag joint put on than use the column of your choice. or here is another option  http://57fordsforever.com/smf/index.php?topic=86.0    good luck :burnout:

Thanks so much for the info.
I found a site that has rack & pinion steering for 57 Fords and also power steering pump
Has anyone tried this particular set up?

markman,

Several people have used the product. There are other products out there as well.
See my post in the General Tech Discussion section, Wurth-it vs. Gearheads 605 Steering Box .

Thanks so much for the information, I am not much of a mechanic myself, but am learning a lot.  I've learned more from other people, such as yourself than anywhere. Again, thanks.
