Denny

Is the pig you're trying to put in the same one that came out of it? If it is it may need some help from a good sized hammer make sure it's level when putting it in.
If it's not the same one make sure it has a 9" ring gear and not a 9 3/8. If it's a 9 3/8 it will fit in the houseing but you will have to grind a small area in the houseing for clearance.

Yea ,  I just have a problem pounding on it to make it fit.  I sure thought about it, I'll try that tomorrow, want to thank you for the nudge.

Have you done any welding on the housing with the center section out? If you can get an idea which stud or studs are not properly aligned, put a couple of nuts on those studs and give them a whack or two in the direction that they need to go.

Believe it or not I used 2 big c clamps to draw it in, and it worked like a champ.  Thanks to all for help.   Denny

Late to join this thread but I had the same problem with the whole thing out of the car.  I took the hogs head out to clean the housing, paint, re-plumb the brake lines, etc.     When I put it back together it had to be perfect to go over the studs.   It was awkward to handle with the weight.  r
