Title: Affordable rebuild kits??
Post by: sprink88 on 2012-12-19 21:31
Seems like the 351w I bought was high miles, needs a .030 rebuild. Any good kits out there affordable? Summit has one for $409 minus the cam. Anyone know of others?

Btw, came with 78 LOW compression heads, but found some gt-40's for 150. That a good deal?

A middle of the road set of SpeedPro forged pistons cost a little more than that kit.  If a tight budget is of issue and a somewhat stock rebuild is the goal, what about a Jasper or some other rebuilder.  Not real expensive and guaranteed.

The 351 W I have for the 57, I found on ebay. Got it for $535, long block. The customer bailed after ordering it for a truck, it got dirty sitting in there shop, I'm going to pull it apart and check it. I have a mild cam upgrade, headers, intake, ignition upgrades. Should be a good ranchero engine, on the cheap.  Mark
