Title: RTHUMPR
Post by: strick on 2013-03-15 21:48
Here is a picture of our 57 Ford Custom. I had one just when I was 16 and my now wife of 42 years was--well a young chick! I bought this car from Sim Larkin in Lubbock, Tx. It has a 351W and Tremac 5 speed. The engine has a Thumpr cam- so I have named it RTHUMPR! I am in the process of re-doing the dash and all the trim back to gray, just had the bumpers rechromed. Sure anxious for spring! Our fist one was blue and white, this one was born black and white, have not decided on paint yet....but that is down the road!

Thanks guys! This is  the 4th '57 I have owned in my life time. Hope to have this one a long time! It is a joy to drive!

Great Car and great picture.  Alan drives this car as often as he can and has great plans for it.  I'm glad you are putting it to good use and enjoying it.  I'm following its progress real close as I too used to own it.  Thanks for sharing Alan.

The color is ok...but just make it shiney!!
Is the car still in Texas?? Should I add you to our list of Texans?

"Awesome" That is a great look, hope to get that stance on my Fairlane 500.
I also bought a Texas car but when I into redoing it I found I had purchased a lot of rust, but that is behind me now and getting ready for paint maybe this week. I had to replace both quarters, rockers, passenger floor pan, trunk panels and rear panel between quarters.

I live in Urbandale, Iowa. Yes, black is hard to beat! I also have a "done" if there is such a thing '56 F100 big back window, it is shinny black! This is the 4th '57 I have owned, this one is a "keeper." I can't wait for car nights to start!

Strick:

That is a mighty nice looking Thumpr.  My 57 is going onto the Dyno again tomorrow to see what the carb adjustments have done.  But, my cam being an Edelbrock RPM series hydraulic flat tappet just doesn't have the sound and lope of a good thumper.  Oh well, can't have it all.

That's why I put the word 'color' in italics.   :002:
