Title: Thumpr
Post by: strick on 2013-12-02 08:04
Brought our '57 home Saturday from southern Iowa (85 miles) where my nephew had installed new lower fenders, new head light trim items and shot a new coat of black primer. Glad to have it home!

Looks great...love the clean look with no bumper guards and no nose or hood trim. That car sure has a lot of shine for primer. Have I asked you what those wheels are? I really like those too.

Yes, NAPA auto parts mixed the primer and got a little more gloss in it that I had planned, they offered new paint, but I did not want the experience of sanding, masking etc again! We also painted the dash and window trim, someone had painted them black over the years, the gray really lightened up the interior, just as my friend Pat Fleischman said it would!

Great job Alan.  The custom is really coming along nice. I'm so glad it went to a good home and you are taking the effort to get it finished, I'm especially glad you are enjoying it.  Thanks for post the updates.

And I forgot to tell you I liked that satin shine on the primer.

THANKS Pat!!! Your advise on the dash was 110%! Boy did that make a difference! I can't wait for spring and "driving time!"

The wheels are Eagle Alloys in 17x8 and 17x7'. 245/45/17 front, 255/60/17 rear.  The offsets were a little. Far out' but the rear in err fender wells were switched out for a set out of a 56 ford. Gave more inner fender well room.

The new chrome bumpers sure look great!   I like the fact that you left the front valance argent(silver) as well.  They just look right that way.  I can't wait to go for a ride it it again some day.

I agree with the front valance color also.
That's a beautiful custom. Enjoy it
