The car doesn't straighten up out of a turn. It has Granada spindles and a Saginaw 605. I have shimmed the front of the inner shaft a 1/2 inch with no shims in the back to increase caster but it still won't flow out of a turn. Has anyone had this problem? I sure appreciate any suggestions.
I have that same set upon my 57 ragtop ,Granada spindles and a 605 box, I have to steer it out of a corner, just like you had to steer it in to the corner. it doesn't seen to center it's self with out help. A lot easier to drive than the stock steering, but still not right. My custom and my Ranchero both have rack and pinnion and drive great.
I couldn't get the alignment exactly were I wanted it with the Granada spindles. I ended up with +2 caster and 0 camber. I'm using a 58 box and it returns 90% and just a little steering wheel movement to finish it up back to straight. The 1/2" of shims seem excessive, I have about 1/4 in the front 0 in the rear. What was your caster reading?
The camber is at 0 but I haven't remeasured the caster. I know the 1/2 '" is beyond the book limit but I wanted to see if it made a difference. I wonder if it could be something else like a very tight idler arm? It does steer very easy however probably easier then I would like. It sounds like I would have been happier with a rack.

After adding the + caster did you check the toe in? Insufficient amount of toe in can cause it not to return also, just a thought..
Thanks. I'll recheck toe in.
