How cool is this. A vendor at the Goodguys swap meet had these. I'll include his business card for our Texas members
That is awesome
personally remember seeing similar stickers as a kid, but mostly from southern states. have never heard of one from oregon or washington but might be wrong on that. wonder if it was more about dipping into peoples' wallets than safety. then there were also those decals that ''supported the local sheriff'' supposedly would grant a bit of immunity for minor infractions. those always struck me as wrong or should the right word be corrupt.
would be curious who remembers either of those style stickers in their home states.

My opinion is basic safety inspections should be a requirement of registration....kinda like insurance. It makes no sense to me that some states will register a car without proof of insurance.
I believe Texas is changing/has changed to a single registration sticker, but you will have to get your car inspected and bring the paperwork to the DMV before they'll issue the registration renewal.
i don't agree.
Here's mine. Actually they are used here to verify emission compliance under a federal mandate. I really don't have to have one, I can register my car as an antique. It is a badge of honor to me because it verifies that all my stuff works. :002:
Cool, I love to see little detail extras like that on a car! My previous car (1960 C***y) had a South Carolina inspection sticker in the windshield, when I changed the windshield I photographed the sticker and printed a new one out for the new glass.
Check out Bob Holts Classic Inspection Stickers website......In 57 Texas stickers was on the right side.....
I'll have to double check that, Outlaw.....I thought right side placement was up until 55 or 6. Before I put it on, I was going to check with the DMV to see if it was a requirement to remove old stickers from the "approved area". If so, I was going to put it on the right side anyway.
Texas law in 1969 moved the sticker location to the left side of the windshield........ Rick
Thanks...then that's where it'll go*. With any luck, I'll have my windshield in this week.
On the right, that is.
Thanks Rich, I remember the name of the director, of all things, it just came to me when I read it on the sticker. Homer Garrison, Jr.
BTW, Acrylic man, speaking of Texas..a thread I've been running here for a while:

Outlaw:...weather sure was crappy for the Goodguys show last weekend, was there, walked around in the rain for a few hours, not much to see. So much for the 20% chance of rain.
Hatfield Restorations has a open house deal 10 till 2 Sat. April 11 in Canton. Lots of cars show up. Live band. We will be cooking hotdogs. Google Hatfield Restorations.
Gotta get me one of those for the Ranchero.
I am having to go thru the process of getting my car registered here in Texas.
Several problems i am having are it has a lost title, It was last registered in California(i think). I can't get an out of state inspection until i get an exhaust on the car, previous owner gutted it. I need to have the out of state inspection to even start the bonded title process.
Ifs finny because i have pictures of the car when it was in Cali and one of the previous owners was running a "56" plate on it and the guy i got it from sold it to me with a "58" texas plate installed.
All 57 cars in California had a 56 license plate with a 57 sticker.
Rich, put me down I'm in Houston. I went to the thread there's a few Texans here......
Larry
Rich, On the Texas thread it says something about this want be posted for 120 days or something like that, so I just came back here.
That 120 day warning can be pretty much ignored, it's just making you aware it's an old thread....you know, you've probably seen guys selling something that gets reopened 4 years later wondering if it's still available. I'll get you added to that list later today.
Ordered a couple of inspection stickers from Larry this morning, to go along with a set of NOS unissued 1957 Texas plates I got off of eBay! I am trying to get all my ducks in a row to finally get her legal by the summer!
Cool...glad I posted his info. My best hope is legal by next summer.
This is the last inspection sticker on my car before it was parked up, never to see the light of day until found in 2008 and brought to New Zealand. Its next sticker is dated May 2013 when it found its way back onto the road
