Title: Raise the back end?
Post by: MT on 2015-04-10 22:42
I would like the back end of my Fairlane to sit up about 2 inches higher.  The springs are fine and it sits level right now.  Has anyone done this with coil over shocks?  I want to be able to switch back easily if I want to.  Thanks!

Not the best way, but back in high school we would reverse the shackles.

Air shocks are an easy adjustable solution. I have Gabriel Highjackers. I personally don't like the look of reversed shackles.

Any problems with the shock mounts handling the extra load?

As an appriser every time I see reversed shackles I assume weak springs and take a $1000 off the apprised value.

I put Gabriel air shocks on mine last year they gave me the look I wanted and no problems.

I have had no problems with mine either. The extra load on the shock mounts is small. The amount of effort to raise the car 2" divided in half.... You would have the same extra load with coil over anyway.
