Title: Lower control arm bushings
Post by: sprink88 on 2015-06-28 22:07
The engine is out of my car right now.  My upper bushing look great but my lowers seen better days about 20 years ago.  They are terrible now..

My question is can they be done while the arms are still attached to the car? Just disconnect and pull them down enough? Ball joints and everything else look Ok so I would hate to ruin something if I don't have too

One can possibly do anything with very careful planning and care but personally I wouldn't consider trying this. There are two issues I can see; unloading the spring while disconnecting and lowering the control arm with only the ball joint connected and pressing in/out the bushings once the spring is safe.

I have to agree with Lynn, I wouldn't even attempt to do it that way in my wildest dreams..

When removing a frt spring always wrap a heavy chain thru the coils and the frame
to keep it from flying at you if the spring compressor slips or breaks!!!!!!

Be safe,

Ron.
