It's available on the 2016 F-150's also. They weren't backing the truck and boat trailer up quite as fast as the Volks, but

the ad wasn't being run backwards either.

The advert isn't being run backwards, the "trailer" is actually the driving/steering vehicle and is pulling the Passat wagon, with a driver steering the wagon, all explained here:

It is supposed to be an advert for VW's trailer-assist package.  Probably all a publicity stunt to try and detract people attention away from the VW emissions fiddling scandal!
