Title: Speedo driven gear
Post by: thomasso on 2017-07-16 18:48
I have a 57 Fairlane with T85 and R11 OD and 4:11 rear gear.   I'm running a 22 tooth driven gear but an not sure where I got it, yellow or maybe green and an OD of approx. 0.866.  Other gears I have are only approx. 0.767 dia. but too few teeth.  Speedo is approx. 15 mph fast at 65mph.  According to the parts book correct gear  would be B5A 17322 D  black 22 tooth.  Do you agree and does anyone have one?  Thanks.  Tom.

I know in a Toploader you would need to change the drive gear in the transmission for that rearend ratio. Don't know about a T85.

Speedo"s were checked at 60MPH.

Using the standard supplied 7:50 X 14 tire , a 23 tooth gear would be required.

That would be part# B7A 17322-L

Impossible to find.   A date with Jennifer Aniston would be easier to accomplish.

Last one I saw went for $110.00 on eBay.

speedometer gear reducer...usually requires making new speedometer cables.
