As the body work progresses on my Ranchero, we are now working on the floors. Toe boards are in, front floors are in. Rear floors come out in the next day or so and flat rear floors will be installed. At the same time we are fabricating the mounts for installing '66 T Bird seats. With just a bare shell, no dash, steering column/wheel, doors etc., it's a little challenging.
What I'd like to know is the distance, on a stock Custom, Ranchero, or Wagon, from the fire wall to the front of the seat bottom cushion, with the seat all the way forward, as well as all the way back. With out the dash and steering column/wheel in place, it is a little difficult to judge exactly where the seat should be located........front to rear. The measurements do not need to be precise.
Thanks
John
P.S. Anyone on the Forum coming to the Street Rod Nationals in Louisville this week?
bolt the steering box back in and make it fit you. Best tailoring you'll ever do.

Gary, I wish it was that easy. The body is on a rotisserie. The frame is 40 miles away. When the two come together again, I'll take your advise and fine tune it. Thanks for the reply.

John.......With my short legs in mind, I made mine so that there is alot of relatively easy adjustment in it should someone with long legs (my 6'4" son) be driving it down the road when I no longer can. I used uni-strut channeling to mount the seat brackets to, so I not only had the seats' back and forth adjustment, loosening a few bolts will provide another 3 or 4 inches in either direction. Unistrut is HD, lots of hardware available, cheap, plated, available in the electrical department at Lowe's, Home Depot. I know I got pics somewhere here, but haven't found them yet....I'll keep looking.
Found it....http://57fordsforever.com/smf/index.php?topic=3528.msg21134#msg21134
Rich, thanks for your insight and advice..........I appreciate it. One of these days I'll take you up on your offer to teach me how to post photos, and then I'll be able to show you what we are doing. There will be some additional "adjustment" built into the way these T Bird seats are mounted. I've also given thought to the next generation driver........my son.Same height.
You'll recall, this is a Ranchero, I'm building. We are cutting out the rear floor foot wells, and reworking the area to be flat. Should make the exhaust fabricator happy, and installing carpet on the flat floor should be easier. I believe it will all work. Time will tell.
Thanks
John
